I have been reading this book Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton and it is fascinating. The book starts with a historical overview of typography and I've learned why italics were introduced and how some of the most well known fonts came into existence. For instance, John Baskerville was a printer whose typefaces were considered amateurish and "...blinding all the Readers in the Nation." (Lupton 16)

I've had this book for a while and I can't believe that I just started reading it. Lo and behold when I check my rss feed this morning, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer has a post about a video on the history of typography. It's really neat and I think you should definitely check it out!

I decided that today would be a good day to finally work on a new layout for digitalcrayon. So, I made my graphics, did my coding, compiled it all, only for my stylesheet NOT to work. Grrrr!! I have no idea how it looks because I code by trial and error. It works for me. I don't know why the stylesheet doesn't work, because all of my others do. I'm wondering if it has something to do with LJ being recently broken.

In other news, I guess Twitter to LJ is broken right now, so I haven't had any posts recently. Last night I live tweeted North America. It was AWESOME! Can't wait for the next five episodes.

I received some polymer clay in the mail today, so my project for the week will be something like this. I want to make bowls or dishes or whatever they are called.

Okay, well, I am going to go back to designing stuff for my store. I should have a new product either tomorrow or maybe later tonight, if I get inspired.

Finally, I know everyone interested has probably already seen this, but I can't wait until June 3rd!
